This blog is dedicated to keeping People informed and up to date, as much as possible, about People Living with Disabilities (visible and invisible) whether it be Autism, Blindness, Mobility, etc., as well as all types of service animals.
How PwD_SD News all came about! It was a long, winding road with lots of ups and down’s and plenty of bumps along the way. It seems that this road keeps going and going with no sight of ending! <g>.
Where does one start? I guess one should always start at the beginning. <g> So here it goes: It all started on March of 2007, with a little email group “Owner Trained Guides”.
Five months later, a friend started a forum to fulfill the need for some place to educate about animals. A day or two later she asked me to join/co-own in which a special section for Service Animals was created into the mix.
Needless to say, about a year later, due to her forum bursting at it’s seams, the Service Animal Section was getting lost. Thus we needed to branch off and have our own special forum.
Therefore on Sept 2008 People with Disabilities & SD Awareness Forum was born. No more myths about what is or isn’t! No more trying to find a needle in the hay stack as it were. There is plenty of worthwhile information, a place for support, share experiences, just chat or ask questions.
It is also Jaws (i.e. text to speech program) Friendly which is a plus for many. Just have to give the pages time to load.
Nevertheless we still needed to have another place where we could archive all our newsletters, information about our forum, various articles and stories, henceforth PwD_SD News came about (Dec. 2008)
